Other situations may alert the firefighter that the individual is actually experiencing a cardiac failure like a heart attack and as such the firefighter needs to take certain actions in order to save the life of the person in cardiac arrest. The combination of portability and accuracy truly make the pulse oximeter a very useful device for firefighters when responding to emergency situations.
