Rhinoplasty,Rhinoplasty: The Journey Towards Aesthetic Improvement Articles otherwise known as a nose job, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to shape and re-size the nose of the patient. This can have a dramatic effect on the individual's face, often quite beyond simply making their nose look different. It is not unusual for a person to look nearly unrecognizable following a dramatic nose job, though this is not always the case. In some cases, the procedure is done to correct breathing problems as much as it is to create a different appearance. If you have been interested in learning more about the surgery, here are some things you should know.

Finding a Surgeon

One of the most important steps you can take on your journey towards aesthetic improvement is to find a good surgeon. Don't just assume that the first doctor you come across is as good as any other. When it comes to plastic surgery and rhinoplasty, a field that has almost as much to do with art as with science, not all doctors are even nearly equal. You can get a workmanlike job from anyone, but you may not get results you are completely thrilled with. If you are spending a great deal of money to improve your appearance (and you will be, since this kind of surgery is rarely covered by insurance), you should be happy with the results.

Be Inquisitive

This is no time to be shy. When you make your first appointment with your surgeon, you need to bring every question you have ever had about rhinoplasty and ask each and every one. There is no such thing as a bad question. This is what an initial consultation is all about. You are evaluating not only whether or not you want to go through with the procedure, but also whether this is the right doctor for you. If they do not have time or inclination to answer all of your questions, that might be the most important answer you could possibly get.

Recovery

Do not expect to enjoy your appearance directly following your rhinoplasty surgery. You will not. There will be cuts, bruises, and swelling standing in the way of your enjoyment. This is a natural part of the process. The body does not know the difference between having a sterile, professional surgery and getting in a car accident. All it knows is that it has been injured and it must do the things it does to heal. Only after you have been through the recovery process will you be able to properly evaluate the results. Give yourself time to get better. Follow your doctor's instructions and your recovery will be successful.
