Deciding what the right age is for a face lift is a less clear than you might think.  Age may be a number,Right Time For A Face Lift? Depends on You! Articles but it is also related to life choices and how well one has taken care of their face. Environment and weather also has an effect on your skin’s tone and elasticity.  The goal of this type of surgery is to regain a sense of youthful vitality in the face.  At any age if you feel you could benefit from this surgery, then it’s the right time for you.
Ageing can happen in a variety of ways, but the most obvious are your life choices.  Many physicians warn against prolonged exposure to sunlight yet there are a lot of people who consistently tan their skin and spend a lot of time in the sun without enough protection.  This can wear on the skin, causing it to age faster.  Smoking cigarettes is another example of a lifestyle choice that can affect the age of your face.  Not only is it extremely unhealthy for your body but also it can age your face faster, causing wrinkles and be a factor in loosing elasticity.   Women and men in their mid thirties or early 40s may be looking to get a facelift if they practice these lifestyle choices.
Then again, on the opposite side of the scale, you could take extremely good care of your skin.  You may make sure to always wear sun protection, and regularly moisturize your face to keep it fresh and youthful.  Spas and salon treatments over the years can also help maintain the youth of your face.  If you’re considering face lift surgery after years of taking good care of your skin, you may be looking for surgery in your late sixties, early seventies.
Another factor is weather.  If you live in the northern part of the country your skin is exposed to harsh cold winters that dry out the face.  Even with preventative care, your skin will be affected by the weather.  When you live in the south, the humid warm air keeps your skin naturally moist.  People seem to age slower in southern regions of the country because there is no dry weather.  Each of these respective regions may have younger or older people looking into facelift surgery because of the environment.
Otherwise, it is the simple fact that our genetics can predisposition us to age at a certain rate.  We can sometimes improve our chances through preventative care but when it comes down to deciding whether it is time for you to get a face lift, the first step is looking in the mirror and deciding whether that answer is right now.  If you feel that your face has aged beyond how young you feel, then that is the best answer you can come to.  As long as you feel comfortable with undergoing the elective surgery,  the right time for a face lift is up to you.
