It is time to talk openly and honestly about a real deal breaker on the dating scene. There is a certain level of hygiene required to successfully woo,See the Dentist Before a First Date Articles wine and dine the opposite sex. I am not talking about showering or washing your hair I am talking about the situation in your mouth. There can be some seriously funky smells and unappealing appearances that some people fail to address but more often than not just don’t know how to fix. That is why it is especially important to go to the dentist frequently and it is actually a pretty good suggestion before a first date.

First of all a dentist will be able to address any critical issues that are currently plaguing the mouth. They can repair a cavity or remove a troublesome tooth. More than that however is the fact that they have a variety of incredible services that are incredibly helpful of that first date.

For one thing they will thoroughly clean and polish the teeth. This annual or semi-annual cleaning will make the teeth look better than they do all year. After the dentist gets through with his treatment you will have the best smile you will have all year long. Also while you are there it is possible to get a whitening treatment to make them pearly whites all the more white. When you leave you will be ready to flash that glowing smile at every witty thing he says.

Some other things the dentist can do is teach and help instill proper oral hygiene practices. Brushing is not enough to keep a mouth healthy and clean. In fact brushing right after eating can actually increase damage to enamel because the acids in foods and beverages temporarily weaken it. It is important to brush but before eating to well afterwards. It is far more critical for healthy teeth and gums to floss and use an antibacterial mouthwash. This will kill germs and freshen breath. A kiss will be much more forthcoming if the sweet smell of your breath is enticing and not pungent and repellent.

One thing to consider however is not to go to the dentist right before a date. The cleaning can leave a funny taste in the mouth and can make food and drink less enjoyable. Also sometimes there is some redness or bleeding of the gums afterwards. I have found that my mouth is occasionally sort of raw from the having hands rooting around. Of course there is also the danger of having a numb mouth and going to pick up a date. A little bit of drool may not be the most appealing first impression. Instead plan to go in for a check-up a few days before that big first date. That way everything will be clean and any work will have healed up.
