This situation is called Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN). This PHN is occurred for 10-20% of patient.
The entire disease process may last for 7 - 10 days. But a person who has this shingles rash may become a cause of spreading chickenpox to another people who does not have chickenpox & those people who never take vaccine of chickenpox.
