If your teeth are less than perfect then you may be considering dental veneers. These are thin layers of material that cover your existing teeth to give perfect results. They are either used to enhance the appearance of the teeth,Should You Consider Dental Veneers? Articles or they can be used to protect them. Before you decide whether or not to have veneers inserted, it would be a good idea to understand the cost and the different ones available.

The Different Materials Used

Veneers can be created from a number of different materials. Which one you choose will determine the cost of your treatment. Typically you will get to choose from dental porcelain veneers or composite veneers. More can be done with the latter, but porcelain veneers can only be indirectly fabricated. Some dentists also offer ceramic veneers too.

If you want the strongest results then porcelain is the material that you should choose. They also provide natural looking results and that is why they are the most expensive option. Composite veneers are more affordable but they are not as durable. This means that you could end up having to replace them sooner than you would with porcelain ones. Therefore the cost in the long run may not actually work out much cheaper than having porcelain ones. Generally porcelain veneers will last up to ten years. Composite veneers on the other hand will only typically last up to two years. As you can see, there is a big difference between the two!

You will find that along with the main types of veneers mentioned above, some dentists will also offer other options. Da Vinci veneers for example are thinner than the standard veneers and they are mainly used in smile makeovers. They are manufactured solely in California.

The main problem with veneers is that they are not cheap and they can break easily. You will need to be very careful if you do have dental veneers fitted.
