Stay Healthy - Lower Costs

Medical costs are skyrocketing across the country. The cost of health care is eating up larger and larger portions of the national output.  That's why its important to start thinking about preventive medicine.

Medical costs are skyrocketing across the country. The cost of health care is eating up larger and larger portions of the national output. Medical insurance is become too expensive for the average family and its causing unemployment as employers can't afford to hire new employees because of the added costs of health care. Its a major problem in this economy.

We all need to reduce the cost of our health care. It sounds silly doesn't it? A lot of people don't live very healthy lives. And yet its the cost of health care that motivates people to be healthier. But if we all make changes to our lifestyle, we can be healthier, live longer and solve a lot of the problems in our current economy. The thing is, simple changes can make major impacts over the life of a typical American. The problem is most people do not have an incentive to make those changes.

More and more people have personal health insurance. And what that means is that more and more people are starting to play a role in reducing the cost of their health care. People now have a financial incentive to take care of themselves. This makes them healthier and it reduces the cost of healthcare for everyone. If you are on your company's plan you usually don't pay much of the cost of medical bills. But if you have a health savings account, every dollar you spend on medical care comes out of your own pocket.

That's why its important to start thinking about preventive medicine. The best way to lower medical bills is to not go to the hospital in the first place.

If you are smoking, stop. That's a no brainer but still 20% of people in this country are still smoking. If you are overweight and out of shape, take a look in the mirror. If you don't look healthy on the outside, you're not healthy on the inside.

Take a multivitamin everyday and eat a wide variety of ingredients in your foods. If you read your food labels, most foods are made with the same basic ingredients, flourScience Articles, sugar and oil. Start eating foods that don't have those ingredients in the top 3. You'll feel better before you know it.

Drink plenty of water too. Dehydration can lead to reduced metabolism and overeating. Drinking water also helps flush out toxins in your body that may lead to other diseases down the road. Its best to flush everything out if you can.
