Periodontal disease progresses like a silent killer.  In the beginning it shows a few signs that are obvious but it can progress absolutely painlessly into an aggressive state.  In this article we are going to focus on the different signs and symptoms so that if any of you or your family or friends are suffering from the given symptoms,Symptoms of Periodontal Disease Articles then this calls for an immediate action.

The symptoms include:

Gums are consistently red, swollen or tender.

If the gums are bleeding on brushing, then this clearly shows inflammation.  It can be considered as a major indicator of periodontal disease.  Children who are suffering from periodontal disease is known as juvenile periodontitis.  This condition in children only has mild signs or they are totally absent.  Smokers who are suffering from periodontal disease, their gums bleed less as compared to the nonsmokers.

In periodontitis there is plaque formation as well as bacteria and this will cause problems of bad breath as well as a bad taste in mouth.

In later stages, there is pocket formation with further advancement of bacterial infection.  This causes recession of gum and the bone and this causes them to separate out from the tooth.  Thus the bone and the gum that are anchoring the teeth will lose their place and the tooth will lose its support.  This can cause the loss of tooth.  Therefore this situation must be dealt with at a very early stage rather than it progresses at an advanced level.
