A balanced diet needs to begin with balanced foods and the best way to create balanced foods is to have them contain the same percentage of daily calories as they do the percentage of good stuff like dietary fibers, vitamins and other minerals.

The FDA has failed the consumer by allowing the foods we consume to contain 80% of daily calorie intake, yet only 10% of daily fiber we need. This seems to be backwards and pretty unhealthy to start with and why for the most part a diet is a battle we usually don't and cannot win for the obvious reasons. We can choose to side track these choices with mostly natural non-processed foods for the ultimate balanced diet.

It seems like a simple solution to balance the scales but in reality to eat the foods that most people want to eat a perfect balance can not be created and as a result it is important to make sure that you spend time and put thought into your diet and meal preparation. It is much simpler to balance your diet when all the foods that you are eating are being prepared by you.

Of course, balancing a diet without incorporating whole grains, fruits, and vegetables is near impossible because these foods bring less calories to the table while providing you with a greater nutritional value. Over all there are many ways to improve your diet but it all begins with taking a closer look at the nutritional value of the foods you are purchasing at the store and also looking at the best way to incorporate better foods into your current dietary structure.

Creating balance is key to living a healthier, happier, and longer life and it all begins with what you are putting in your mouth. Sticking with the motto everything in moderation and combining that with being consciously aware of what you are ingesting will help to bring you the balanced diet you need to keep your body and mind healthier. The littlest of changes can have the greatest long term results.
