The physiotherapist Nick Heywood-Smith did not attain his dream by just sitting down and lazing around. He put a lot of effort into what he does and spent his time learning and improving his ways to be successful in his field. The company W&L or Wellness & Lifestyles which he created with his wife Nikki is now one of leading companies when it comes to providing mobile allied care to facilities and to clients who stay at home.

In November 1998, Nick finished his college degree in Physiotherapy. He then earned a lot of experience by joining the National Health Service or NHS wherein he immersed himself with different settings such as outpatient and inpatient. He visits the home of patients who does not need therapy and complicated nursing services. He also renders his service to patients who are staying in the hospital or in an aged care home.

With the experience that he had, it opened his eyes and heart that there are many people especially those in outpatient setting who are not getting sufficient care that they need. One of the reasons is that there are not enough medical professionals who will be willing to work with them. This encouraged him to build his own firm dedicated in providing allied health services. It all started in the home of the couple where Nick served as the service provider and Nikki as the marketing consultant.

The triumph of their business started from humble beginnings and it gradually flourished as one of the most in demand company in the country. Their service ranges from offering speech pathology, podiatry, educational training, dietetics, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Currently they have more than one hundred fifty employees which include the therapist and the staff and over ten thousand patients who are depending on their assistance.

The business that the couple established had given hope and assistance to people who are in need of medical attention. Most of these individuals do not have enough money to spend for their healthcare. Some of them avail of ACFI or Aged Care Funding Instrument which is created by the government to be of help to elder citizens who does not receive the right amount of medical assistance. Together with W&L, elder patients either in their homes or in the nursing facilities will receive the care that they deserve.

In the next years, Nick Heywood-Smith together with his wife plan to continue what they had started and will expand their venture to other countries as well.
