Information About Acid Reflux Disease

How does a person develop acid reflux disease?  There are several different ways of getting acid reflux.  Some of the foods,There Are Many Symptoms Involved With Acid Reflux Disease Articles drinks, and other items consumed by people can cause this condition to be triggered.  Some people eat too many foods containing a heavy amount of fat content. They eat too many chocolates, and consume too many alcoholic beverages, and too many cigarettes.  Other factors which can cause the reflux problem to trigger is being obese, and for some, being pregnant.  Both obesity and pregnancy cause the stomach contents to push back into the esophagus causing additional pressure in the abdomen.

When people know that their stomachs are full with food and acid, they should not lay down.  This creates acid reflux.  What usually happens is that acid in the stomach is usually carried into the small intestine for digestion.  However, when people have acid reflux disease the acid content from the stomach will back up into the esophagus creating inflammation and other damages.  Also some people’s stomachs automatically get rid of their stomach content into the intestine at a very slow rate of speed.

Some of the symptoms of acid reflux are chest pain, difficulty swallowing, heartburn, and regurgitation.  The symptoms can last for months or even sometimes for a longer length of time if treatment is sought after.  Treatment is usually needed only for a short period of time.  As symptoms recur, naturally treatment will continue to be needed.

The symptom that is most often experienced by people with acid reflux disease is heartburn.  This pain will cause a burning sensation in the chest right behind the breast bone.  The burning pain will usually begin inside the upper abdominal area and travel upwards until it reaches the neck.

Some facts about these symptoms are:

1)     The longevity of the pain can be as much as two hours.

2)     Generally after a person has eaten the heartburn pain is much worse.

3)     Sometimes bending over or even lying down, right after you have eaten, can cause heartburn to become worse.

4)     Acid indigestion is the same thing as heartburn.

5)     Surprisingly enough, physical activity does not seem to cause the onset of pain due to heartburn nor does it worsen the pain that has already begun.

Some of the other symptoms of acid reflux are when you are sleeping and that bitter, burning acid regurgitates up into the throat causing you to set straight up in the bed.  Another menacing symptom is that terribly uncomfortable feeling which occurs when you feel like you have something stuck in your throat.   Hoarseness usually during the morning hours, a hacking-nagging cough, and a bitter taste can also be symptoms of acid reflux disease.

Children who have acid reflux disease suffer from respiratory problems, vomiting, and coughing.  Always be very cautious when treating children.
