Thinning hair doesn’t just occur as we age or because of disease. Chemical treatments, coloring, and heated styling tools can cause breakage. When hair strands break and die they fall out leaving hair thin and sparse. No one likes the look of thinning hair. Avoid dying, chemical treatments and heating tools to stop from damaging your hair. To reverse the effects of thinning hair use these steps to thicken your hair strands.

Condition- When hair is damaged it is dry and brittle making it more easily broken and likely to fall out. Conditioning your hair daily to keep hair from breaking. Conditioners contain amino acids, proteins that bond to the hair follicle, making it stronger. When hair strands are strong they are at less risk for damage. Always use conditioner after shampooing. It is also advised to use a leave in a conditioner, which will reduce frizz.

Intense Thickening Treatment- Use an intense thickening treatment on your hair weekly. An intense treatment will increase the thickness of each existing hair strand. Intense thickening treatments contain humectants like panthenol, which prevents breakage. Humectants help in the retention of moisture.  When applied to the hair humectants go deep into the hair shaft and trap moisture, which plumps each strand of hair individually. Massage the treatment into the scalp, which stimulates the circulation of blood and nutrients making hair healthy enough to grow.

Avoid Hair Gels, Creams & Serums- With so many hair products on the market today, its natural to turn to hair gels, creams and serums. Gels, creams, and serums may reduce frizz, and keep away the flyaways however they weigh down the hair strands. When hair is weighed down, sparse and thinning areas are more noticeable. Use lightweight hairspray and mousses instead. They are lighter on the hair strands giving your hair body and volume without adding weight.
