However, there are also many cases in which individuals utilize cosmetic procedures in an effort to correct or remedy the effects of a trauma that they have suffered. For example, a car accident victim who is left with facial scars may be a viable candidate for cosmetic surgery as would someone who has had cancer removed.

Another myth about plastic surgery is that it is unaffordable. This is simply not true. In fact, one of the primary reasons that more and more people are getting cosmetic surgery is due to the fact that it is becoming more affordable for the average person. For example, the average breast augmentation may cost between $3,000 and $4,000 (not including fees). The results of which have made it possible for more people to obtain desired looks, regardless of their reasoning for doing so.

The third myth about plastic surgery is that it's not worth the time and resources required. Have you ever stopped and asked someone if they are satisfied with the cosmetic procedure that they have had done? More often than not, you'll find that an overwhelming majority of customers will say that they are indeed satisfied. This is particularly true for those individuals who pursued cosmetic procedures to correct or remedy the effects of a trauma that left them disfigured. 

Regardless of whether you have actually been deterred from having plastic surgery out of fear derived from gossip that you have heard or not, falsehoods have probably impacted your decision to some extent. This is why it is important that myths are dispelled, not only because they are false, but because they deter interest among potential customers. Specifically, the myths that only vain people pursue cosmetic procedures, that it is unaffordable and that it's not worth the time and resources required can be dispelled because they are simply not true.
