The urinary bladder is a muscular sac in the pelvis,Tips on Strengthening Your Bladder to Urinate Less often Articles just above and behind the pubic bone. When empty, the bladder is similar to a pear in the size and shape. To some people, it maybe just a habit to have to pee frequently. In fact, the bladder can even get bigger once been trained correctly. So, how to strengthen your bladder and urinate less often?

Urine is produced in the kidneys, and travels down two tubes called ureters to the bladder. The function of bladder is to store urine and allow urination to be infrequent and voluntary. The normal capacity of the bladder is 400 to 600 mL. During urination, the bladder muscles contract, and two sphincters open to allow urine to flow out. Urine exits the bladder into the urethra, which carries urine out of the body. Because it passes through the penis, the urethra is longer in men (8 inches) than in women (1.5 inches). Thus, women are more likely to suffer from UTI than men.

If one suffers from UTI unfortunately, it’s suggested to accept treatments as soon as possible. Antibiotics are always the first option. However, as we all know, antibiotics can cause drug resistance that means it may relieve the symptoms in certain time but may occur recurrently if patients stop taking it. Thus, herbal medicine like Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill maybe a better option because it’s natural and safe. Of course, to prevent is better than to treat it.

Tips on Strengthening Your Bladder

1. Recognize abnormal urination

Generally, people should urinate every three to four hours during the day, and can hold about a pint of urine. If one need pee hourly, it may due to the symptom of "overactive bladder".

2. Train bladder

One can train bladder by practicing holding more urine and resisting the urge to go too often. For example, if you get a sudden urge to pee, went in the last two hours, and haven't consumed a lot of fluid, one can try to fight it. Try to contract your pelvic floor muscles to stop the flow of urine or passage of gas. Both men and women can perform this exercise because both of them have these muscles. After about a minute, the mistaken urge to urinate may disappear naturally.

3. Limit foods and drinks that irritate the bladder

Try to reduce the intake of foods and drinks that can irritate the bladder, such as sodas, milk, coffee and tea, tomatoes, citrus, etc.

 4. Reduce intake of protein

When there is more protein than the body needs to build and maintain itself, it will burn the carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen portion of the component amino acid molecules for energy but must excrete the nitrogen as waste compounds. An extra-high-protein diet, as a bodybuilder or low-carb dieter might use, will produce a lot of waste nitrogen that requires extra water to carry away.
