Doctors know of three types of diabetes. Insulin is the common factor: How it is used by the body,Type 1, 2 and 3 Diabetes Problems Articles how it is made by the body. The divisions are made this way:

Type 1: Insulin production does not occur. Pancreas issues are a common link accociated with insulin effectiveness. This can be because of over work due to long-term resistance to insulin requiring long-term overproduction or pancreas destruction by disease (certain sorts of flu have been know to cause this for instance). Some people have to control their insulin through direct action. This can be done automatically with artifical pumps or monitoring blood sugar levels and adding compatable insulin by injection, if needed.

Type 2: Insulin is produced by the body, however it is used erratically and blood sugar levels must be monitored. A person with type 2 diabetes is usually diagnosed as such because of a high blood sugar reading after eating and at times when normal insulin using people do not have high blood sugar readings. However, you still produce enough insulin to survive, but damage occurs. Insulin resistance - where you don't use insulin as well but your pancreas is successfully 'red lining'- is caused by obesity (fat cells require more insulin), long term dehydration, and systematic nutritional lack. Even though many obese people are not diabetic, diabetes is much more likely if a significant portion of your body weight is taken up in fat. One of the reasons insulin is in great quanities in some type 2 diabetics is because it is being used as a transport mechanism for scavanged minerals and micronutrients, taken from your body structure to enable metabolism, in addition to handing blood sugar.

It is provien that daily exercise increases sensitivity to insulin. Many people find that through testing, they are producing less insulin with exercise.

Bodily fluids are slowed by to much insulin - both the fluids inside and outside body cells become thicker. Thick fluids don't move well. This causes poor cirulation, with the results first showing in many in the extremities as nerves are damaged from poor circulation. Further things that happen can be heart attacks, strokes, or clogged arteries are found. Common medical practice is to treat a type 2 diabetic as a person that has had 1 heart attack, whether they have or not, because the stress of moving these thicker fluids around causes.

Type 3 diabetes is a recent classification. Divisions start to breakdown with this discription of a third type of diabetes. Insulin is produced, but because of insuilin resistance or quality issues, additional insulin is introduced from an outside source. This requires a person to inject insulin in a similar manner to a person with a Type 1 diagnosis. It has been said that this is a result of the medical profession prescribing insulin to type 2 diabetics with out controlling diet, exercising, or using oral medications effectively.

When you have this disease, you and your doctor need to monitor your conditon closely. A sure way to avoid a lot of suffering and have a significantly longer life is to control your eating binges rather than adding more insulin as needed. In fact - the way things are going, by 2050 half of the population will be in the middle of some sort of diabetes crisis!

Are you going to be in the diabetes pool or are you going to be out of it? For you and those you love, make sure you are one of the ones without diabetes.
