These are basically overlays on your teeth that cosmetically enhance your smile by covering, not correcting, issues with your teeth.

Cosmetic dentistry is a great way to enhance you appearance and veneers, whether made of porcelain,Veneers Pros and Cons Articles resin, or of other available but less popular materials, are an effective, long lasting, and popular way to create a Hollywood smile. The benefits of the procedure include, of course finally obtaining a sought after bright, white smile, and giving the appearance of having corrected cosmetic imperfections.
Although tooth whitening is also a popular method of cosmetic dentistry, this more involved procedure is often suggested above whitening in the event that the patient has discolored teeth as opposed to stained teeth, or if the patient’s teeth are graying from age or have lost their enamel, which is the natural covering on teeth. Teeth also naturally wear with age and chipping caused from grinding or other normal wear and tear, gapping or spacing, and discoloration that can be caused from other procedures such as fillings and crowns can all be addressed with this restorative and permanent procedure.

These covers, depending on the substance chosen, last from ten to fifteen years, and in some cases can prevent the further damage and therefore, the further cost of damage control of the teeth that they are covering, and unlike whitening, which requires major commitment to maintenance, veneers, with normal brushing and flossing, can last up to the aforementioned fifteen years with only regular checkups and minimal maintenance. They may also replace the need for crowns, and because they are highly polishable, staining from drinking wine, coffee, and soda is not likely nor are these drinks which are detrimental to regular whitening procedures forbidden as a part of care for your new teeth.

Though the benefits to veneers are insurmountable, there are a few downsides to consider. Having these coverings adhered to your teeth is rather pricey, though for a procedure that is likely to last more than a decade that will debunk the cost of other dental procedures such as whitening, crowns, braces or other orthodontic procedures is probably a smart investment, and although popular wine, soda, and coffee addictions are not likely to negate any work, some dietary changes should be made in order to reduce the possibility of chipping. Sometimes dentists recommend not eating crunchy foods like ice, raw carrots, nuts, etc.

To protect your investment, it is sometimes recommended that a mouth guard or protective device be worn at night or while you are sleeping, especially if part of the reason you chose veneers was to correct damage done due to bruxism on teeth grinding. A tooth cannot be repaired, so in the case of damage, the process will have to be completely redone for each tooth in need.

Cosmetic enhancements to the teeth are known to give you an overall younger appearance, and because these types of enhancements do not fall victim to natural aging like the results of other cosmetic enhancement are liable, such procedures are truly a good investment.
