Jamie Post organized DeKalb’s Biggest Loser to help people find support for their weight-loss efforts.
Post organized the weight-loss support group about two weeks ago, and it has gradually been gaining support. Post said the group gives people an opportunity to find a support network here in DeKalb County.

“What we’re doing is to have a group of people with a shoulder to lean on for each other,” Post said. “Doing it on your own is really hard. Having someone to talk to helps.”

Post said DeKalb’s Biggest Loser is divided into men’s and women’s groups so people would feel more comfortable.

Every other week, the groups meet at Runway [Knitting] in Rainsville for a weigh-in. She said Runway allowed the group to use the business’ postal scale so group members could get accurate weights and track their weight loss.
“We’re just being there for one another,” Post said. “We’ve already had girls losing weight from talking to each other and supporting each other on Facebook.”
