Dehydration causes an increase in blood pressure which can lead to the swelling the  anorectal veins being exacerbated.  Those suffering from hemorrhoids should avoid a high caffeine consumption along with consuming large amounts of alcohol as these are main causes of dehydration.  Drinking large amounts of water will also aid in the treatment of the condition. 

Another cause of hemorrhoids is excessive straining during of the constipation.  Those who find themselves with a low fiber diet or excessive lactic acid due to abundant dairy intake might find that constipation is a problem which makes their battle with hemorrhoids even worse, these people need not ask what causes hemorrhoids , the answer is simply: the foods that they eat causing constipation and the need to strain.  For those individuals the answer may be as simple as a supply of laxative in the medicine cabinet and a few minor dietary changes.

Another cause of hemorrhoids could be incorrect toilet posture.  Toilets are designed to facilitate comfort for us while being used, but comfort is not the best thing for the way our bodies are designed.  The best position to use when eliminating is a squatting motion.  This can be accomplished by sitting normally at first and then leaning forward with your knees and elbows touching and your feet lifted to be up on your toes and the balls of your feet. This allows an open and straight path for the evacuation.  Another option that is easier to facilitate is to use the toilet facing backwards, the face you will need to spread your legs wide and move your feet back behind you will put you close to the correct position for an efficient movement.  This second option does tend to work better for men due to anatomical interferences which prevent the first option from being very pleasant to carry out.

With these things in mind you should be able to battle your hemorrhoids more effectively, now you know what causes hemorrhoids and knowing is the first step to stopping the bad behaviors which make the condition worse.

Hemorrhoids are not a major medical condition, but should be treated as soon as possible. In most cases, hemorrhoids will go away once the factor that caused them is taken away and you are careful not to continue irritating them.
