Dental implants are the newest technique for replacing missing teeth. We have all probably known someone with old fashion false teeth. You know the kind that grandpa liked to push out of his mouth and wiggle up and down simultaneously with his eyebrows. The truth is he probably relied on that hat trick to remove the focus from the fact that his teeth were always slipping out. Removable false teeth and adjacent anchors are two tooth replacement techniques that really need to stay in the past. Grandpas can find other ways to entertain.

Removable bridges are slippery,Why Dental Implants are the Right Choice Articles slimy, and just plain gross. Denture cream must be used for placement, and it can get odorous, tedious, and expensive. Those with these removable bridges that sit atop the gums wreaking havoc on the bones are often embarrassed from the suction and clicking noises made when adhesives fail or wear out as a day goes by. Taking them in and out, storing them, and worrying about being caught with teeth out are all worries that accompany removable dentures.

Those who have sporadic missing teeth have been known to forgo partial plates or bridges which was a more convenient choice for replacement. Anchoring a false tooth to an adjacent tooth is more convenient in that there is no removing, storing, or gluing, but the anchoring puts pressure on the existing teeth eventually causing enough damage that those teeth need replacement as well.

At first glance, many patients just see the price of dental implants and forgo the option, but the truth is that the absence of future replacement and the nonexistent cost of upkeep, adhesive products, special cleaners, and the lower risk of damaging bone and other teeth makes the cost a non-issue.

Dental implants are permanent, and they are placed in the bone with titanium posts. The issues that come with removable and anchored teeth such as difficulty eating, embarrassing slippage, or less than natural aesthetics are things of the past. Research shows that after twenty years, patients who have had these teeth placed are still reporting perfect condition without any impact on quality of life or issues with surrounding teeth or gums.

False teeth of any kind are a replacement for bad teeth, so optimal oral health and regular checkups are always a better choice than any kind of replacement, but if the situation arises, a dental implant is certainly the best option available today.
