But Yoga during pregnancy helps in relieving these problems. It not only assists the body in strengthening for childbirth but also stretches the muscles well. It’s the back pain that a majority of pregnant women complaint about and this is where Asana (Postures) help out.


Yoga in pregnancy also help in releasing the birth canal of the tension and raising the energy levels of the body, as the body might feel fatigue and lazy due the changes in hormones secretion in the body during the pregnancy period.  Yoga during pregnancy should be followed via Asanas(Postures), Pranayam(Breathing exercises), Meditation, Yoga Nidra.


The asanas open the energy channels in the body and strengthen the muscles and make it stronger and aware. However, during pregnancy, it is good to be cautious and perform asanas that do not strain the body (due to the physical changes) and avoid bending positions and asanas that pressure on the belly and the back. Balance asanas should be specifically avoided and if performing, should be performed under supervision with a help.


Then comes the breathing exercise routine. It provides the inner tranquility, harmonizes the nervous system, stabilized the mind, helps in the elimination of anxiety, phobias, alleviate the body of high blood pressure, breathlessness and insomnia etc. Most important advantage of the breathing exercise is that they help in building up the body for easy delivery with least tension and fatigue by improving the stamina and vitality of the body.


Meditation provides absolute peace and relaxation to the body and mind thus calming down the body. Yoga is an integral part of our lives, a holistic approach using which the most critical time of woman’s life can be made memorable.
