Do you think camera manufacturers have spies that lurk around competitors' camera labs? Do they foot the bill for insider information? In the Canon 60D VS Nikon D7000 comparison,Canon 60D VS Nikon D7000 - Digital SLRs Head-to-Head Articles it surely seems that this may just be the issue. What if it is a scheme shrewdly planned to cause indecision among the camera buying public?Doesn't it seem odd that both cameras hit the market in a two week period? If you analyze the cameras closely, they are so similar that it almost seems like the same designer issued the memo for production. Is it too bizarre to think that Nikon and Canon use the exact same designers? That would explain the weird way the two cameras are nearly identical. In spite of the similarities, there are differences. Which one will swing the pendulum for you? This very question is the reason for this article.Of course there are differences. Here is a short list of things that are different about the two cameras.1. Image Resolution - a simple 2-megapixel difference. This is scarcely enough to break a sweat over considering 18.0 mp or 16.2 mp.2. LCD Panel - The Canon 60D has a fully-articulating (fancy word for "swivel") LCD panel while the Nikon D7000 has a fixed LCD panel.3. Flash modes - there are two additional flash modes on the Nikon model that are not available on the Canon. These are slow sync flash and rear curtain. For those who use advanced flash features, this will make a difference.4. Auto-Focus - The difference in focus points looks significant. There are 39 on the Nikon and only 9 on the Canon. However, not all 39 points are cross-reference focus points. Actually, they both have 9 cross-type focus points.5. Continuous shooting rate - although there is a difference here, it is really miniscule, 5.3fps vs 6.0fps. It is hardly worth mentioning.6. Body Build - This one is certainly a difference. In fact, this may be the deciding factor for lots of photographers. The fascinating thing is that both Canon and Nikon went in reverse directions with regard to upgrading. For Canon, the new 60D is constructed with polycarbonate plastic material, whereas its predecessor, the 50D was built out of magnesium alloy metal. The Nikon D7000, on the other hand is made of magnesium alloy, but the older D90 was built from plastic. Quite strange, don't you think? Maybe a clean-up crew accidentally destroyed or threw away an important memo? A point that favors both models, though, is that they are environmentally sealed against the elements.A few other differences are present, but they are somewhat subtle, and they are also unique to that model. As camera technology evolves, the quality of the image continues to improve. This continues to be the case with the 60D vs D7000. You will undoubtedly observe a heated argument from one forum or another about whether Canon or Nikon is the best. Some argue that Nikon is the master when it comes to nature, and Canon is better for portrait photography. You may even hear it the other way around. The bottom line is that you must evaluate the features individually and decide which digital SLR is best for your needs.Price has not been mentioned yet, and it is actually a major point. It depends on what day and which store you are considering, including online stores.
