Whether your are looking to complete your final service project to get your Eagle Scout or in charge of group service,Good Service Project Ideas Articles organizing and executing a project is a fantastic way to give back to the community.

1.  Food drive- There are plenty of people that go to bed hungry every night, and organizing a food drive is a wonderful way to help fill their stomachs. In order to make your project as effective as possible it is a good idea to come up with a goal that is reachable but still challenges you and makes you stretch. A good example of a goal with a food drive is to set a goal for the total weight of the food that you are going to be collecting. Work with your local food bank and get a list of the types of foods that they accept and what they need most. Most food banks have large scales that they use to keep track of their donations and record the weight of the food that they receive. Using the scales that they have at their facilities will help you to measure your results and see how close you are to achieving the goal you set.

2.  Book collection- Holding a book collection is a great way to help out local libraries and even children’s hospitals. Take some time to go out to children’s facilities throughout your community and see what they are in need of. Then you can organize your efforts to collect any books that are in good condition that you can give to these places. You can really do a lot to brighten a child’s day by working to donate new or gently used books for them to enjoy and read.

3.  Paint the community- Unfortunately vandalism is a part of the world that we live in. If you are looking for a service project that you can organize, one of the things you should consider is to go around and paint any areas that have been vandalized. Before you start painting public spaces you need to try and get in contact with the police and let them know your intentions. Most likely they will be very glad for your willingness to help and will show you where you can take your paint and crew to help cleanup. Make sure that you tell everyone that will be involved to bring old clothing that they don’t mind getting dirty or potentially ruining.

One of the best parts about giving service is the wonderful feeling of fulfillment that you receive when you are done. You don’t need to be paid for what you’ve done, and you don’t even need to receive a thank you because you know what you’ve done has helped another human being.
