Spanish art has played an important role in Europe with some highly influential artists contributing to a wide range of movements across many centuries,Goya Paintings Articles though there maybe hasn't been the dominance which French painters created with impressionism or the Italians who led the Renaissance. Instead, there has been a steady flurry of Spaniards who have achieved great academic success one-by-one and Francisco de Goya was one of the most important painters to have done so.
This posting will draw attention to the great work achieved by Francisco de Goya and outlines some of his major works, of which there are many. Many see Goya as one of the last true masters and, as such, will always hold a great importance even for many centuries to come and as new ideas continue to flood into the art world.
Romanticists are famed for their attraction to bold topics for their work and another who did this was Eugene Delacroix, a similar French artist who tackled political topics in much of his work. There are many academics who feel that romanticists such as Goya and Delacroix were crucial to the later rise of impressionism which came from France and drew on much that had gone before through artists such as these. JMW Turner is another romanticist who many believe inspired some of the French impressionists.
Third of May came around in 1814 just a few years after the even took place which provided the content for this painting and it serves as an example of the emotion which Goya would put into the painting as well as what would then be seen in the powerful images which he created in each and every canvas work.
Reproductions of Goya originals are frequent choices online and this artist ranks highly amongst the most commonly requested painters, showing that his reputation is still strong with in the international art public, many centuries after he originally set about creating such masterpieces.
This artist remains in our thoughts thanks to the prominent galleries in which his originals are still displayed but there was even more to Goya than just exceptional technical skills, thanks to the challenging and original choices which he made on topics for his work.
