Rc cars provide fun and entertainment for the young and the old.

Rc cars for hobbyists are not simple and cheap like kids toy cars. These cars for kids are made of cheaper quality metal and the parts are all fixed and once a part breaks or malfunctions the remote controlled cars need to be thrown away. Not so the rc cars for hobbyists. These sophisticated models are sturdier and their parts are replaceable.

The rc cars for hobbyists are available in two types of power generation. The Nitro gas powered cars are a mixture of gas and nitrogen and this enable the cars to travel at great speeds where at times it could reach 100 MPH. The other type of remote controlled cars is where the car is powered by an electric battery.

Rc cars are available in three different ways. The cars can come fully assembled and the only need may be the batteries or fuel. Then there is the kit where you will need to assemble the car from scratch. In between we find cars that are assembled half way with the balance needs to be assembled.

When beginners take up the hobby of rc cars it is advisable that they start off with the battery operated cars. This is because it is easier to control and get used to. The only disadvantage is that in case one does not have an additional battery pack they will have to spend much time waiting until the battery gets charged.

The choice of rc car will depend upon where the car will be used. On road models need smooth surfaces but off road models could be used on any surface.

Remote controlled cars could also be used for the technique of drifting. Drifting is when the driver of a vehicle over steers. One aspect of drifting is taking a left corner with the wheels pointing right. For drifting the most commonly used cars will be the 4WD rc cars that are electrically operated. Many enthusiasts custom build their vehicles.

For die hard rc car enthusiasts there are formal and informal races. These enthusiast or hobbyists spend much time and effort on understanding their cars and look for ways of improving their performances. These hobbyists generally have models of many vehicles so that they have a choice from a range of vehicles to match their mood.

One should be aware that remote controlled cars are an expensive hobby to maintain but the thrill of it is immense.
