The Diverse World Of Canon Lenses

Nearly everyone has heard of the company named Canon.  After all, this multi-national company manufactures cameras, camera equipment, office equipment, optical equipment, medical equipment, and many other things.  And with a name like "Canon," the automatic assumption is that this is either a European or American company.  It is neither.  In fact, the company is Japanese.  Japanese?  The company started making cameras in 1937 and was then known as "Kwanon."  After only ten short years, the company changed over to the name "Canon," which was probably an attempt to capture more international business.  The company is still headquartered in Tokyo to this day.

Canon has earned a reputation for making cameras and other products that are extremely well made, affordable, and very easy to use.  The company is a true market leader, having introduced many new concepts and features to its cameras throughout the years.  Digital SLR cameras is what the company specializes in these days.

There are so many different models of Canon cameras that it's truly enough to satisfy any camera shopper.  When it comes to picking out a lens, however, this can often be a very daunting and confusing task since there are so many to choose from.  There are more than a dozen different categories to choose from and there are many different lenses from withing each category.  This makes choosing just one a very confusing job.

Many folks who are shopping for new lenses for their cameras often shop for used lenses in an effort to save money.  It's easy to see why since a lot of lenses can cost nearly as much as the camera did.  Buying used lenses, however, may not always be such a good idea since you never really know how they were maintained.  Keep in mind that the important parts are on the inside of the lens.  Even though the lens may look great on the outside, the interior may be shot.

Many people view refurbished lenses as a much better way to buy lenses for less than retail.  While it's true that you can get some great deals this way, you still have to be very careful.  You have to be absolutely sure that Canon was the company that did the work on the lens.  If another company rebuilt it, it's hard to say that the work that was done was quality work.

Shopping for a camera lens can definitely be a daunting experience.  Before you make a commitment on a used unit, consider purchasing a rebuilt unit that Canon has repaired to make sure you get the best unit possible for your money.
