The rc helicopter should not be confused with an rc airplane. They are different in construction and also in the manner in which they operate and also in flight training.

The rc helicopter can provide hours of fun to the enthusiast. With a range of models available the remote control helicopter could be used not only for fun but also for low altitude aerial photography,The toy rc helicopter keeping children satisfied Articles filming and remote observations.

The remote control helicopter and the rc aeroplane are both aerial toys but they are not of the same ilk. Where the rc aeroplane needs space to take off the rc helicopter needs hardly any space at all. This is because the remote control helicopter takes off vertically and all that is necessary is an open area.

The rc helicopter comes in a range of sizes. Some are so small that they could fly in your living room. This type of toy helicopter is great to kindle the flame of interest in helicopter flying.

The gamut of toy helicopter models is so wide and with the costs of production of many models reducing there is the availability of a model for anyone within their budget.

For those interested in a rc helicopter for hobby purposes should start off with one that is easy to manoeuvre. The toy remote controlled helicopter is a good place to start because it is easy to manipulate as well as it is easy on the purse. If your interest is bound to increase then it is possible to invest in the more sophisticated but more expensive models.

The operation of toy rc helicopters are very simple.  In one design there is a main rotor that provides the function of speed and the tail rotor allows the helicopter to move right or left while increasing or decreasing speed. The centre of gravity is shifted ever so slightly by a bit of weight on the nose allowing the helicopter to move forward.

Another method of control has two counter rotors that allow the rc helicopter to lift and turn. Here too the center of gravity is slightly changed.

The toy rc helicopter is limited in functions but is a good launching pad for the hobby of helicopter flying. Being radio controlled the helicopter will operate on a predetermined frequency. Usually it is 25Mhz or 40 MHz. The transmitter is hand held and the receiver will be fixed in the helicopter.

There is no better gift to give a young boy other than a rc helicopter. It will keep the young one out of plenty of mischief and who knows it may be the foundation of him becoming a helicopter rescue pilot!!
