Gather the right equipment (1 min)

It is important that you have all the supplies before you start cleaning, so you don’t waste time. The items you would need are:

    1. Dish soap
    2. Dishrag or sponge
    3. Disinfectant wipes
    4. Mop and bucket
    5. Broom or vacuum cleaner

To be efficient, keep all the equipment in one kitchen cupboard. This way you won’t forget where you put your most important items for cleaning.

Load the dishwasher or put all dirty dishes in hot soapy water (2 mins)

If you are washing the dishes by hand, make sure you put the heavily soiled dishes to soak on the bottom of the sink. All large dishes like pans and bowls can be filled with hot soapy water and put on the side to soak. This would make the washing much easier later.

Tip: Run a sink of hot soapy water before food preparation, so that all bowls, chopping boards, knives, etc, when dirty are in the sink soaking. This prevent food from drying and it could be cleaned up a lot easier later!

If you have a dishwasher, remember you don’t need to rinse the dishes, just scrape them.

Clean your microwave (2 min)

Put a wet sponge in the microwave for 1 minute on high. The steam of the sponge loosens any gunk. Heating up a wet sponge is also great way to disinfect it and you can use it to clean out the inside of your dirty microwave. This will protect them from getting greasy after using the same sponge for all dishes. Then you can continue with the bowls and pans which have been soaking for a while.

Wipe sink and counters (3 mins)

After washing all the dishes is time to wipe down everything around the kitchen. Take the antibacterial wipes and wipe down the sink and the counters. Clean the stoves to remove any crumbs. Using antibacterial wipes would help you remove any bacteria, make your kitchen smell nice and look clean.

Clean floor (5 mins)

After cooking and cleaning the counters, it is time to tackle the floor. The last task that you need to complete is sweep or vacuum the floor. If it’s not that dirty, then you can avoid doing it today, but once a week would be enough to keep the floor clean. If you have time and want to complete the cleaning, you could mop the floor.
