Guidelines to be followed when cleaning a Stuffed animal

One of the most adorable toys a kid can boast of is definitely the stuffed animal. A child may even own as many as twenty stuffed animals and it all depends on the kidís passion about having them.

Actually, a dirty toy is an ugly toy and stuffed animals are no exception to this. When making a decision on how you are going to clean the stuffed animal, itís always important to keep some few factors in mind as all stuffed animals canít be cleaned the same. The most preferred methods are hand washing and machine cleaning methods. Itís always good to check at a specific toy and check its labels directives on how you should perform the cleaning process. If the label suggests that cleaning using a machine is the most preferable, then you should do this specifically ad avoid other cleaning methods.

How often you clean your stuffed animal will primarily depend on how the child plays with it. Obviously, a child who plays with it so often makes it dirtier and you will be forced to run it in the cleaning machine periodically. If the kid plays with the animal on a daily basis, passing it through the washing machine as often as you can is recommended. Also, even if the animal is being stored, dust can always make it dirty thus cleaning is also required.

When cleaning stuffed animals, itís always good to exercise some caution. For instance, frequent cleaning may fade the color of the material making it less attractive. Some machines can also cause shrinkage on the material which also undermines the quality of the stuffed animal in the long run. Make necessary settings on the machines also like controlling the temperature of the dryers to avoid overheating while in use.

A vacuum hose can also be used to blow off dust and itís always easier to practice. Also dust off the whole room and clean the floor with a wet duster. If the child has stained the stuffed animal, use a duster before the stain dries up and becomes permanent. Use of chemical reactions on stuffed animals is not very recommended as most chemical solutions tend to react and discolor the toy.

Mending should also be done when the toy animal is torn. Always use the right threads that match the toy color to avoid disfiguring it by placing patches with contrasting colors. Itís always good to teach your kid on how to handle the toy properly to avoid damaging it. Children should play carefully with pins that act as noses or ears or any decoration on the stuffed animal to maintain its quality and make it last for long. Itís also advisable to buy your children more than one stuffed animals as playing with one toy may limit its life span.
