There are many great opportunities to make money from home with an online business.  However there are literally thousands of products that promise to show you how to make an income online.  Unfortunately a high proportion of these so called products are scams,How Not to Get Scammed When Choosing a Business Opportunity Articles some just over promise and a few actually deliver if you follow the system.

Many people jump straight in and part with their money when they see a new business opportunity and that is a big mistake.  As with any business you should undertake some due diligence.

Make sure you ask yourself these important questions:

1)    Do I know what the business is? – Many sales letters are very vague promising to let you know there secrets after you have joined.  Don’t be sucked in to this often the system is basic and does not work and that is why they hide it from you.

2)    Who owns the business? – Most of the scams do not give any company details or the names of the individuals involved.  This should be an instant red flag.  This business could be run by organised criminals or scammers on another continent.  If you have lost money do you think they will be responding to your emails?  Absolutely not.

3)    Does it promise automatic riches – We have all seen the sales letters stuffed with luxury houses and properties promising riches beyond our wildest dreams while working only a few hours a week.  These pitches rely on our naivety and greed to succeed.  It is not possible to make money automatically, every business needs some work and expertise.  Go for a business opportunity that promises to show you how to make money rather than one that promises to make you rich on auto pilot.

If the business looks attractive after looking at the hints above it is worth getting a second opinion.  Use Google to search for a business opportunity review site and see if the biz op in question is listed.  You can also put type in the product name of the biz op you are looking at with review after it in Google.  Most good business opportunities will have been reviewed by several sites.

Do not take all reviews at face value as some product owners set up review sites to make their offering look good.  When looking at reviews consider the following:

A)    Are there any negative reviews on the site? – You would expect to see a mixed bag of good and bad reviews if the site owner is genuine. If all reviews are positive it is likely the site owner is receiving commission for the review.

B)    Is the review itself balanced? – Pointing out negatives about a product can be a reflection of an honest review.

C)    Is the site a one product review site? – If the site is dedicated to one product it is likely the site owner is getting commissions.  Do not discount these sites as sometimes site owners set them up because they know the product is of high quality and is likely to be in demand.

D)    What are the qualifications of the reviewer? – Are you taking advice from someone who is qualified to give the advice?  Only listen to experts in their field, unqualified advice is often worthless.

Also try to protect yourself by choosing products with an unconditional refund period.

If you follow these strategies and follow through with the product that you do buy you will have a good chance of being successful.
