There are large multinational corporations doing business in the home based business sector.  They offer good products along with training and support.  Many do not require a large cash start up fee – in fact, you should be wary of programs that require you to purchase large amounts of inventory – especially in the beginning.  Most will pay you commission on sales you generate as well as on sales generated by those you recruit – your “downline”.  So the more sales you generate and the more “downline” you recruit, the more commission you will receive.
