Those with a lot of things, however, may need the expertise of a mover company to help with the transition.

Packing

During packing, the owner needs to let the packers and the movers know where the things need to go. Most moving companies allocate several boxes and containers suitable for the needs of the family or individual. Although, the movers usually have a list of their own regarding what goes into which box, it helps if the owner also has his or her own list with which to compare with them. This is a great way of keeping track of things. The owner should also segregate things which need special attention and those which may need to be packed away from food stuffs and others. Kitchen and bathroom cleaning agents and other chemicals need to be checked and double checked if they are closed well to prevent them from leaking during transportation. It is a good idea for the owner to be present during the packing for reference and safety purposes.

Transport

Transporting the boxes and containers may need some time. The moving company might have a schedule with which they stick to and they may arrive earlier or later than the owner. It is important that the owner be present when the movers arrive because many of the accidents happen during transporting and unpacking. Depending on the agreement, some establishments may also help with the unpacking while others leave the owners to do it by themselves. The owner's list of boxes and contents will come in handy during this time. There may be some items that the owner and company have agreed to keep in storage due to lack of space or no need to use it yet. This is a special service that many moving establishments extend to their clients.

Making a move less traumatic can also be a state of mind. If the person is ready for it then there is nothing to be anxious about. It is a good idea to be familiar with the new area before actually moving to it. This means visiting the place several times at different times of the day to have a general idea of what to expect.
