Norcross Apartment Moving into a rural environment.

Many of us are looking for ways to slow our lives down, to remove the business and noise of city living. Rural Georgia is a nice respite from Atlanta's metropolitan way of life. Small town living affords people an opportunity to experience the natural environment, friendly people and an involved government. If you are looking for an apartment in the Norcross area, apartments are available, with a wide range of prices and sizes, in different neighborhoods with an eclectic culture.

Situated in Gwinnett County (726,000 residents), the city of Norcross, Georgia has an estimated population of nearly 10,000. Despite its small size, the city makes national headlines thanks to its high school basketball team. Undefeated seasons, championship titles, and accolades from USA Today have helped Norcross carve out a small niche in the world of national athletics.

One notable school is Meadowcreek. It is a secondary school in Norcross, Georgia, outside of Atlanta and off of I-85. The school is part of the Gwinnett County Public Schools system. Meadowcreek High School is the most diverse secondary institution in the state of Georgia with a student body representing over 90 different nationalities. There is no single ethnic majority at Meadowcreek High School. The Meadowcreek Science Olympiad Team consistently ranked in the Top 4 for over 6 consecutive years. In 2003 and 2005, it was ranked 2nd and went to the national competition with Parkview High School, the only other high school representing Georgia.

Well before these championships helped put Norcross on the map, the city was popular among Atlanta's elite because of its cooler temperatures and higher elevation. Historic Norcross is still full of luxurious vacation homes built in the 19th century. To this day, some of Atlanta's elite still escapes to Norcross during the hottest months of the summer in order to cool off and relax in this relatively sleepy suburb.

The median per capita income for Norcross is just below $20,000 a year. Household income approaches $45,000 annually. Roughly two-thirds of adults over the age of 25 possess a high school degree and about 23% possess a bachelor's degree or higher.

Norcross is largely an IT manufacturing town, with the bulk of the jobs provided by major employers like American Megatrends, BIOS (motherboard manufacturer), Digitrax (model railroad manufacturer), Micromeritics (maker of various small particle analysis instruments), and Unisource (a distributor of paper, packagingFind Article, and facility supplies). The local government and school system also provide a sizable number of jobs.
