In these courses you get a basic knowledge of healthcare services, medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy and healthcare laws and ethics. You will need at the very least, an associate's degree and pass an exam conducted by the American Association of Professional Coders to become a certified coder. But remember this is just the base. You will require getting a higher degree to advance in your career.

The highest degree that you can attain is a master's degree.
