It is important to stop thinking like a consumer if you want to be successful at making money online.

The reality is inescapable.  If you are promoting any product,Switch Your Mentality From Consumer to Producer to Become Successful at Making Money Online Articles service or business online or even researching how to make money online you are constantly being bombarded with offers, products and the "latest and greatest" business opportunities.

The temptation can be overpowering at times because people are masters at writing ad copy in such a way that will draw you in and pull at your emotions.

You find yourself thinking,"Wow, this e-book says I can start making $1000 a week with almost no start up capital or any special skills. I wonder if I could do that."

Stop right there. To start making money online instead of losing it, you need to change your mentality.  You need to make the transition from consumer to producer. Whether you are a producer of profits, an opt-in list or referrals for a business makes no difference. As long as your main focus is to get your message out to the masses , you have the right mindset.

All businesses work the same no matter how alluring the sales copy is.  You drive traffic, you make sales.  It doesn't matter how it is packaged, the traffic=sales premise will ALWAYS be true.

The ONLY way you are going to succeed is by picking ONE business and putting all of your effort into it.  People new to making money online end up spreading themselves too thin and that is a recipe for disaster.

Once you switch your mentality from consumer to producer, it becomes much easier to avoid distraction.  After all, you aren't looking for a business, you are looking for your next customer, team member, etc.

I would say that the major exception to this rule would be advertising for your new business or sales venture.  When you are marketing online, you can ALWAYS use more advertising.  You will naturally come across many sites that offer advertising, some are worthless and some will be invaluable to you.  My recommendation is to bookmark these sites as you find them and keep them in a specific folder in your web browser.

If you are just starting out, you probably don't have any kind of advertising budget. Hopefully, there will come a day when you do and it will be a lot easier if you already have a list of advertising sites that you can reference when you start to buy paid advertising.

When you encounter free advertising sites, especially ones that offer free advertising when you join, go ahead and create an account. As I said before, you can ALWAYS use more advertising, and you can always cancel your account later if you do not like the site.
