Front doors come in many forms, old and new. Many people do not know about the more modern front doors, such as composite doors.

In my experience,Composite Doors - A New Standard Articles uPVC doors are incredibly flimsy. There have been times, especially during the summer months when the hot weather has caused them to expand, where I have tried to open a uPVC door and found that it has gotten stuck in the frame. If you are lucky, after much pulling, you might get the door open but you will be able to feel how flimsy it is whilst doing so. It will shake and wobble, from the force required to open it. Now imagine that it is not you pulling on that front door, but instead it is an attacker (or several attackers), armed with a crowbar or some other heavy object. Do you feel your uPVC door would adequately be able to protect you from someone who really wanted to enter?

Unfortunately, these flimsy front doors have become standard in homes. The cost and energy efficiency has made homeowners and builders favour them over expensive wooden doors. In some ways, uPVC doors are better than wooden ones. Not only are they more affordable, but they do not require the same level of maintenance that wooden doors do. They do not need to be sanded and painted to keep them from rotting. As mentioned before, they can also be far more energy efficient, helping to reduce the monthly energy bills.

The differences between uPVC and wooden doors can lead to a dilemma when choosing a new front door. Neither of the doors are perfect, so how do you choose between them? Many people do not know that there is a third option; a new addition to the door industry that eliminates this dilemma. The new front door available is a composite door. As the name suggests, it is made from a composition of materials. It has been designed not only to bridge the gap between wood and uPVC, but to exceed both in almost every way.

These new front doors are sturdy - weighted to match a wooden door, so you will not experience the same flimsiness of uPVC. The skin of the doors is incredibly tough and durable. It is resistant to cracks and protects against a much higher level of attack than any other door, making it a top choice for home security. The durability extends to the appearance - the colour will not fade after being exposed to the elements for years. It is even easier to maintain than uPVC, not requiring any special treatments or cleaners.

The price of composite doors is mid-range, cheaper than wooden doors and only slightly more expensive than uPVC doors. With the energy efficiency benefits and the lifespan of the door, it could work out cheaper in the long run. Despite composite doors being worth the price you pay, they are a new addition to the market and not yet as widely available as other doors. As they gain popularity you should see the price drop further, giving you another reason to choose the perfect door over those that are outdated and inferior.
