Gel Fireplace—How Safe Is it?

Gel-fueled fireplaces are now even designed with many different styles to fit just about any home interior. They come in the form of inserts which can be bought any many home improvement stores. Each insert is equipped with a complete set of legs and pebbles so it would be very easy to install them inside the hearth. They can virtually change the overall feel and atmosphere of any room when placed at a focal area. They require less maintenance as compared to other types of fireplaces.
Fireplaces that use gel fuels are known to be by far one of the safest types of heating units. The fuel itself is composed of a bio ethanol substance known as the isopropyl alcohol. The substance is then mixed with a special thickener to for a soft gel which is them placed inside the canister. When the canister is lighted, it produces real flame with the absence of unpleasant odor, fumes, smoke, ash, and soot. And because of these primary reasons, they are even very safe to use around homes where children are present.
At a single time, up to three to four canisters can be used. However, three canisters seem to be standard since it produces enough heat for an entire room. The heat however, is not as warm as traditional ones but they are still enough to make any room cozy and comfortable during the cold winters. But just like traditional burning firewood the flames of a gel fireplace also pops and crackles.
Gel-fueled fireplaces are very user friendly. No gas lines and firewood needs to be placed inside the hearth. Each canister is very safe to use because it come with a special insulating feature to help avoid spread of fire thus they are also very safe to be used just about anywhere around the house. They also do not deplete much oxygen nor increase carbon monoxide levels in the air hence they are the best that any homeowner can have.
