Homemade Carpet Cleaner Solution

Carpets make the home look great. Homemade carpet cleaners can be just as effective as the commercial store bought carpet cleaners. You have been thinking about carpet cleaning solution and you have decided to make it by our own. Well you will be glad to know that making your own carpet cleaner is very easy. There is no need to pass any chemical exam you can make your own carpet cleaner in your home. Here we will discuss some general tips which can help to make a good cleaning solution.

Ammonia - you can use this in the same amount of carpet cleaner solution that your particular steamer asks for. They have it in different scents but you will probably still need to leave your windows open until the carpet dries as the scent won't go away until they are dry.

Baking soda- It works well in cleaning a carpet and is really cheap and environment-friendly.  It works for stains and for foul odors.  Just sprinkle some on the carpet, dip a stiff bristle brush in hot water and scrub.

Borax, Vinegar and Salt- Mix equal parts of salt, borax and vinegar to make a thick paste. Then apply on the stained area and let it dry, after which it can be removed using a vacuum cleaner. For ink stains, cream of tartar is very effective. Also add a few drops of lemon juice to it and apply on the stain. Once the paste dries, vacuum the carpet.

Vinegar and Detergent- White vinegar can be used in another way for carpet cleaning.  Make a solution by using equal parts of white vinegar, a mild liquid detergent and warm or lukewarm water. Mix all the ingredients properly and then use a brush for application on the stained area of the carpet. Let it stay for some time, after which it can be rinsed with a damp cloth.

Soap and Water- Another homemade carpet cleaner solution is the combination of laundry soap and water.  Laundry soap works well for clothes, so why not for carpets?  Just pour an adequate amount on a spot and work it with a brush in circular motions.

These homemade carpet cleaning solutions are a less expensive alternative compared to chemical-based or ready-made carpet cleaning solutions for cleaning your carpets, working just as effective.  A homemade carpet cleaning solution is safer to the environment.
