House Cleaning – Create A Plan
House cleaning can be an overwhelming project for any one person to take on at one time. It can seem like the hours are passing by and you are just stuck scrubbing, washing and wiping. To make things go a little more smoothly, consider coming up with a plan that will separate the tasks, making you efficient and the work go by quickly.
Separate by Room
When it comes to house cleaning,
you can choose to work in one room at a time. This can save time as you aren't running from room to room in the house wondering what to do next. Start from the top and work your way down. If it is a bedroom, start by dusting things like the fan or the furniture. Next, change the sheets or make the bed. When it comes to the floor, pick things up that are laying around and put them away. If you are in the kid's room, place everything on the bed for them to handle when they get home. The final step will be to vacuum or sweep, depending on the flooring.
As you walk you, you can feel a sense of accomplishment, knowing that you have finished one room. If that is all the time that you have, don't be discouraged; at least you got something done. If you can, pick one room of the house to complete each day. If you are overly ambitious, you can try to get a few done in one day.
Come Up With a Schedule
Arrange your house cleaning schedule with your life in mind. For example, if you plan to entertain or have a lot of company on the weekends, it might be a good idea to clean the bathrooms and living room on Friday. If you usually cook for the entire week on Mondays, plan to clean the kitchen on Tuesdays. You want your house cleaning schedule to be what is best for you. It may change based on the season or special events that you have coming up, but for the most part, stick to it to get consistency.
Let everyone else know about this schedule so that they know when they need to participate. You can set a date for the kids to clean their areas or even let them know that they need to make sure all of their toys are up by a certain day because you clean the play space on Saturdays. Set this up to meet what is best for your family and your specific situation.
Remember that there are days when it is going to be impossible to get any house cleaning done. Because this is just life and there isn't much that you can do about it, try to just let it go and move onto the next day. It isn't about keeping everything perfect, it is about making it livable for you and everyone else in the home. Also, don't forget to get everyone in on the tasks to ensure that you are not doing everything by yourself.
