Wooden doors and drawers are very convenient and can take a lot of abuse, in the form of opening and closing. Wood also comes in various designs and forms. When beautiful wood such as expensive hard wood is used, these are not painted over and their natural grain is exposed to perfection. Ordinary plywood and other kinds of wooden materials can be painted on. Glass doors are usually reserved for cabinets and not drawers. These allow the person to view what is inside the storage area without the need to open it. It also serves as a decoration or frame of sorts for whatever is in the area. Full glass doors may be too modern to be paired with full grain traditional drawers. Aluminum or steel cabinets are easier to clean and may be more resistant to dirt, stains and burns. These are quite modern looking and may not complement a full wooden kitchen. On the other hand, some kitchens often employ open storage areas. These are usually found below the waist and may be covered with a curtain. 

Types of Design

The designs of the doors and drawers are more varied for wooden ones compared to glass and aluminum. Aluminum is not so viable when it comes to design and is usually shown plain. Glass can have stenciling and some forms of sandblasted design on them. Beveling can be done on the glass for a more traditional kitchen remodeling theme. The designs for wood can be endless. It can be made into different themes and designs that the home owner might prefer. French windows are very popular choices for the small doors. Although, these may not be such a good idea for cabinets located below the waist since the glass may be more likely hit or banged more often compared to when they are placed above the work area. Wooden or aluminum is more workable and serviceable if the kitchen remodeling entails placing these below the waist, closer to the knees. Broken glass can cause injury and inconvenience in the area.
