Oak Furniture For A Classic Look

Use oak furniture for a classic look in the bedroom, for example. As a fine wood, oak is certainly a material that is considered not only classic and timely but also one of the most versatile woods that can be had for building furniture for almost every room in the house, but most especially for furniture in the bedroom. This includes not only beds but also dressers and chests.

There is almost no person out there who understands wood who wouldn't say that oak itself is very light in weight -- because it isn't -- especially when it's used to build a nice chest of drawers or a really large headboard for a bed. Truly, a thick slab of oak that has been highly finished and polished really says a lot about the value a person places in a bedroom suite.

Oak has been used in the construction of bedroom furniture going back centuries. There are examples of fine oak sets among the Tudors of England (including Henry VIII) as well as highly polished and extremely ornate and detailed oak bedroom furniture among many of the other ancient royal houses of Europe, including the French of certain eras.

For the most part, the typical bedroom suite made of oak furniture will include at least a chest of drawers, a dresser (sometimes with a mirror that is framed with oak) and a headboard. As far as looks and tastes go, the oak itself can be of a dark or a light stain variety, and people can also choose to add other pieces to the set, including at least one night stand and a footboard.

What many people may not realize is that most oak furniture -- including bedroom sets -- comes out of one of several furniture factories located in the North Carolina region. Oak is a main constituent of more expensive bedroom sets because it is a very sturdy though beautiful wood that is extremely adaptable and can be stained and finished in many different looks.

Some of the most popular oak furniture made today, though, comes from our good friends, the Amish. Such furniture, hand crafted and finely detailed as it is, will not be cheap. A typical Queen bed with a low footboard can fetch up to $1300 and that will not include any special frame, which will always be additional cost. Most people will say that the price is well worth it, though.

For those who really want to stretch their pocketbooks, one can look at an oak model that is both massive looking yet also very finely built and that will cost nearly $3000. This is not cheap, of course, but once one looks at all that is included, it will be hard to deny that sleeping on such a bed can't help but make one feel as if he himself is Henry VIII.

Oak furniture for a classic look will stand out very nicely in just about any bedroom. It is at once massive, sturdy and also extremely detailed and beautiful. The richness of the grain in a finely made piece of oak is almost without compare. There have been examples of oak furniture throughout historyPsychology Articles, and it has truly stood the test of time when it comes to the making of furniture.
