If you are able to call your plumber in an emergency or non-emergency situation it will save both you and him a lot of time. He can come prepared with the parts and tools that he needs to get the job done right the first time and not have to come back on several occasions. There are so many different things that can go wrong with your plumbing situation and it is important to be aware of what these different issues are.

The water in your sink will not flow – Assuming that you paid your water bill, a faucet that will not run is usually a serious plumbing problem. This usually means that there is a problem with the pipes under or outside of the house. If it is a freezing cold day, there is a possibility of a frozen pipe. A frozen pipe can burst, so you should call a plumber out to the home immediately. This can cause serious damage to the home if not treated by a professional quickly. This can be prevented by running a pencil size stream of water at the faucet furthest from the water source of the house when the outside temperatures are below freezing level.

Toilet will not flush – This can either be a very serious problem or a relatively easy problem. It really just depends on the situation. There may be a broken pipe so that water is not getting to your toilet. If you suspect there is a pipe which has broken, turn your water at the source off immediately. If not, you can have a lot of water damage in your home. This can be as simple as a broken part in your toilet not allowing the mechanism work properly. IN this case, you should call out a plumber since you do not know how serious the problem is.

Sink or bathtub will not drain – This is probably the most common plumbing problems housed by plumbers. However, this can be taken care of by the homeowner in some, but not all cases. There are several different pipe clearing products on the market. Before calling a plumber out, which can be very expensive, try to use one of these products. The instructions are clearly marked on the bottle. If this does not work for your problem, then it would be necessary to hire a plumber as the problem is probably pretty in depth.

You never want to try to do any sort of plumbing project that you are unsure about or do not feel comfortable doing. In most cases, it is best to call a plumber out to the home for assistance.
