If you are tired of your drab hallway entrance into your home and would like to make it more inviting than it currently is, there are many ways to rejuvenate your hallway and give it a fresh look. When a person first enters your home your hallway should give the first impression effect that you want to emit, the last thing you want is for it to be a bad impression!

The easiest way to start to refresh your hallway is of course by applying a fresh coat of paint (well,Refresh your Hallway Entrance and Hallway Furniture Articles let's make that emulsion!) to the walls. This would be your colour preference of course and not just one that you've  been advised upon or the classic Magnolia - being original is one thing but try doing it via your own individual tastes. You can search the internet and you will find that different colours reflect different moods in your home and this can be how you personalise your hallway. Various shades of green are really popular today being easy on the eye as well as being a calming colour. Another example is a very light shade of yellow or orange - with this you can enjoy reflections of a sunny welcoming feeling. Visit your local DIY store and find hundreds of colours that you can look through and decide on.After you have decided which colour you would like and have spent that wondrous afternoon painting walls (and the carpet. and each other...!), find yourself some inviting pieces of home decor as well as some furniture pieces for your hallway area. Antique furniture pieces can work beautifully in a hallway just as easily as modern and contemporary ideas and designs. Something that many people choose is a piece of furniture called a hall tree. They can be beautifully made and will have an area to hang coats and put your shoes. A majority of these hall trees will also have a mirror - perfect for checking whether you should really be going out in that coat and those shoes! A side table or telephone table with a small lamp and some magazines (for that lived in effect!)  also look good in a hallway. Adding a pretty area rug can do wonders in your hall especially if you have hardwood floors. This makes for a very inviting entranceway to your home and encourages people to wipe their feet... There are many types of paintings as well as photographs for your walls to choose from nowadays - from classical reprints to modern block art and photography. If you love a certain type of artwork, this would be a good place to hang a few as you get to enjoy them each day on your way in and out of your house and it can also be a way to start a conversation when someone enters your home. If you are into nature and have an eye for a shot you can take your own photos and have them blown up and framed. Your hallway should not only be inviting but it should reflect you and your home's personality. Different small pieces of hallway furniture & storage, good lighting and focal points on your walls makes for a great hallway. Even a small bookcase with some classical books is not out of the question. It doesn't take much to accomplish the perfect space and look that you and everyone who enters will love.
