Have you ever stopped to consider the vast number of styles of chairs that are available. Some are better suited to some uses than those of another style. But each chair has a use for which it was designed, and when used in this manner may provide years of functional use.

How do you know if you need a stackable chair,The Basic Facts About Chairs Articles a foldable chair, a standard kitchen chair, or even a camping chair? There are many factors that determine this, but the use you intend to use the chair for largely determines the type of chair that is preferable.

Some chairs are considered to be portable chairs, these chairs will all have one thing in common. They will be light, and easy to move. They may be stackable, foldable, wood, or metal. Many places that occasionally entertain large crowds, such as a high school gymnasium, make use of grey metal stackable chairs. These are convenient, because they enable you to have the seating capacity when you need it, and the floor space when you don't.

Chairs that are considered to be occasional use chairs would be largely folding style chairs, such as lawn chairs, and folding camp chairs. Whether made of wood, metal, or fabric. Many use a combination of these three materials.

Many chairs that are made for occasional, outdoor use especially, have components in place to ensure that they are as stable as possible. If you took a metal stackable chair from in the gym and placed it on the lawn of baseball field, it may sink in and tip you over. This is because of the small area in contact with the ground.

Lawn chairs while making provisions for this, still tend to be a little less stable than folding camp chairs. However, that is my opinion and your opinion may differ, and that's how we come to personal preference. The folding camp chairs generally have metal tubular frames with a fabric attached that forms the seat and back. Many of these have built in drink holders, and most of them have plastic feet for improved stability.

When you walk into someone's house do you notice what kind of chairs they have at either the kitchen table, or the dining room table. I have noticed that dining room tables tend to have a more classy style of chair than the standard kitchen table chairs. Many of the chairs you find in dining rooms are of wood construction, and some may have just the seat and a back, but many will have arm rests as well.

The standard kitchen chair is generally one of metal framed design, having a cushioned seat and backrest attached. Some are also wood construction, however, these still tend to be less fancy and more of a dull finish than the high gloss finish you would see on some of the dining room chairs I mentioned above. When you come to rocking chairs, to my knowledge there is only two basic types. They are the type with the wooden rockers on the floor, much the same style as a hobby horse has, and the chair attaches to these two rockers. The other type that seems to be capturing the market is the glider rocker. I believe one of the strong features of this chair is the fact that there is no rocker rocking on the floor to inadvertently rock on someone's toes or a cats tail.
