In a recent interview with the owner of a 45 store electronics retailer,The Single Greatest Reason Why Your Computer or Flat-Screen TV Will Fail and How to Prevent It Articles he stated

that the primary reason why all computers and flat screens die is NOT due to parts

failure but because of dust!

Because electronic equipment like computers, TV’s, etc. create a magnetic

field around them, they attract dust like crazy. The dust comes in through the

vents on this kind of equipment. All electronic equipment has vents to allow air to

pass out into the atmosphere and there is, conversely, vents that allow air in to

cause cooling. As the air comes into the equipment and passes over the internal

parts, because of the electro-magnetic field that is created, it causes the dust

to stick to everything inside the equipment. He also told me about a really cheap

fix that anyone can accomplish in minutes. The secret is velcro dots and vent filter

material. Just go to any Home Depot, Lowes or some WalMarts and buy a

package of vent filters. They come in packs of 12-4”x12” filters. The material is

electrostatic so it captures the dust like a magnet and is thin and flat and easy to

attach. Measure the vents on your electronic equipment, cut the filter material

with scissors, apply velcro dots and attach.

When they become discolored, rip them off and replace.

This is a simple and effective fix and the total cost for the filters is about $4-5.

for a pack of 12 and the dots are cheap, as well. A great savings over the cost of

repair or replacement! For more helpful information, go to:
