Hydronic and electrical underfloor heating systems make use of heated water and electrical cables, respectively, circulates warm air through a pipe system to heat your home.  The source of the heat is set beneath the flooring of each room, so each room becomes a heating zone.  Usually, these zones are heated separately and temperature is controlled using a thermostat and direction valves. The heat is redirected if that zone is closed, which saves you money since empty rooms are not heated when you turn on the system.  The hydronic water radiant system is most ideal when it is placed underneath the flooring and a solar heat pump or water heater is available.

There are many factors that determine the cost of installing both hydronic and electric radiant heating system.  These factors include the size of the home, location, type of floor covering, type of installation and the cost of labor.  Hydronic heating will cost more if installed in select rooms either during remodeling or in a new construction.
