Ways to Keep your Children Busy During Air Conditioning Repair

When your air conditioning repair job is slated to take more than a few hours, you are going to need a contingency plan to help you keep your kids busy and cool. While no one can anticipate when something is going to go awry with your AC, you can be prepared to handle a few hot days. This idea works for any type of situation when plans fail and you have to do something different for a few hours or days.

First of all, you need to pack a bag that can be kept in a hall closet or other easily accessible area. You might even want to keep this bag in your vehicle (the trunk or hatch is a good place to stash things) so that you do not have to worry about forgetting it. This bag is your go-to for days like this, so you want to stock it with a variety of things.

You will want to put some basic necessities into this bag. Consider hand sanitizer and wet wipes, bug repellant and sunscreen, lip balm, a small first aid kit, rain ponchos, an umbrella and hand lotion. Also consider adding some non-perishable snacks that can help stave off a hungry gang. Each of these items will come in handy when you are out and about with your children.

If you are waiting out an air conditioning repair, you will want to grab a few towels and swimsuits and toss these into your bag (just in case) and head out to find a cool spot to wait out the repairs. If you have a county or state park nearby, there may be a lake or pond where you can swim. Some parks also have a play area with sprinklers and water slides. You can pass a lot of time in the water with your children.

There are times when a lake or pool is not available, and you will have to seek alternate locations to keep cool. You might consider going to a mall or other large shopping center. Many of these have areas where children can play while the parents sip on a cup of coffee or smoothie. Also, many pizza arcades have wonderful deals in the summer when crowds tend to be infrequent.

If the air conditioning repair is going to take a day or two and the heat is extreme, you might need to stay somewhere else for the night. Should this be the case, look for a hotel that has a swimming pool or water park. Your kids will wear themselves out and you will all get a great night's sleep while you are displaced.
Waiting out an air conditioning repair does not need to be a torturous time just waiting in the heat. Be creative (and grab your bag) and you can keep your family cool and safe when temperatures rise.
