You Get What You Pay For: A Good Rule of Thumb in All Things

I have already explained my own experiences taught me a great deal about what to look for with platform bed plans. A good rule of thumb for these bed plans, and, well, for life, is that you get what you pay for. What do I mean by this? The honest truth is that free things very, very rarely live up to anyone’s expectations.

I know that in today’s economy, everyone is trying to find ways to cut corners and save money. While this may be a very good reason to buy the generic green beans instead of the brand name, it is definitely not a good reason to skimp when planning something that is meant to sleep on. You would never try to build a home based on free plans you found on the Internet, would you?

Just because something like a platform bed may seem much smaller than building a house does not mean the same premise does not apply. Whoever you are building that bed for will not appreciate it very much if the thing falls apart. Just ask my son about that! When you or a loved one goes to bed at night, they need to know that they have a peaceful place to get their sleep. Interrupted rest can lead to a very rough day the next morning. Nothing can interrupt rest more than a platform bed falling through.

Now that I have stressed my point a great deal, I will move on to some useful information. When you make the decision to build a platform bed, you are taking on quite an endeavor. While building the bed does entail some hard work, you will be very proud of the end result.

The first step in building a quality platform bed is to choose your plans carefully. As mentioned before, and quite often, free bed plans can be quite faulty. They may not be thorough and they may leave out a very vital step. Instead, choose a bed plan that offers step-by-step instructions along with clear diagrams and helpful tips. You will want to make sure that the plans leave nothing out so that you will not run into serious problems on down the line.

After you have made the very good decision to avoid free platform beds, the next step would be to decide on the design you want to build. While some platform beds may include some intricate work, others are extremely basic. This decision should be based upon the style of bed you wish to build and how much work you are willing to put into building it. After all, you will be the one doing the work.

Finally, make sure that you use quality materials. There is no sense in going through the trouble of securing quality platform bed plans and then using subpar materials to build it.

A platform bed can be an excellent piece of furniture to build when you want to take on the project yourself. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. In order to build a platform bed that will provide safety and quality, make sure you choose to purchase quality plans.
