Wordpress is one of the most popular blogging platforms.  It can enable you to create very attractive and functional blogs.  You can create a free Wordpress blog or use the Wordpress software.  We will discuss creating a website using Wordpress software.

The first thing you need to do is to choose a domain name for your website.  You can go a a domain registrar like GoDaddy and pick an available one which suits your needs and interests.

Then you need to point the domain to the servers in your hosting account (assuming you know how to get your own hosting account).  The server information is provided to you at the time you get your hosting account and may be formatted similar to NS1674.Hostgator.Com.

Following this you would access the cPanel from your hosting account.  The cPanel is a wonderful tool which allows you to perform dozens of tasks from an easy to use integrated site.

The first thing to do is to create your domain or sub domain on your hosting account.  The cPanel has easy to implement and understand sections to get this done.  At that point you want to install the Wordpress software on your site.

Look for a piece of software through your ePanel called Fantastico.  Once you pull this up,Creating a Website Using The Popular Wordpress Platform Articles it has an option to load Wordpress.  Follow the prompts and soon you’ll have Wordpress installed on your domain.

At this point, you can set up the administrative information for your Wordpress blog like user name and password.  Once this is done you can exit from your cPanel and access your blog’s administrative panel.

You would access is by entering a URL similar to http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Once you are in the administrative part of your Wordpress blog, you have a great deal of flexibility in terms of posting content, formatting the blog by incorporating themes and plugins, and optimizing the site for SEO purposes.

Wordpress makes it very easy when it comes to uploading themes or plugins.  In most cases you don’t have perform any FTP file transfer to do so.  The software makes this a snap.

You can also upload many different kinds of content such as photos, graphic files, and videos through the administrative dashboard of your blog.

There is a great deal of free information available on this so check of the web for more details.  It would take much too long to present it all here.
