Image galleries are one of the most used features by website owners. Even some of them don't put them directly on the front page most of the sites you have frequently visited probably have at least one gallery somewhere. Even some of them might look complex, creating your own WordPress gallery is much easier than you can imagine. And probably you will spend more time choosing the photos than setting up the gallery.

Before we start setting up the gallery we need to have prepared all the images we want to put in it and then upload those to the site. After you have logged in to your WordPress dashboard,How To Make A Photo Gallery In WordPress (Step by Step) Articles go to the Media > Library tab and then click the Add New button. Next, click Select Files or drag and drop all your files here. If the process takes too long you might consider canceling the process and optimize your images. A good idea may be to compress your images without affecting their quality. You can do this online for free at www.tinypng.com.

After you have successfully uploaded all your images the next step is to create a page where to put them. For this on your dashboard go to Pages > Add New. Now with your WordPress editor open put the cursor on where you want the gallery to be placed and click Add Media. Now a new pop-up page will appear. On the left side is the menu. Choose Create Gallery from the available options. Now select all the images and then click Create a new gallery > Insert gallery.

After you have done the gallery you can add further customization to it. Click on the gallery then click edit. On the pop-up page, you can choose the order of the images, the size of its thumbnails, or how many columns will include your gallery. A good idea would be also to add individual captions to each image and to link them to other related content. If you don't link them, then WordPress by default option will redirect all visitors which click on them on a file attachment page. And with this you are done, your gallery is ready. If you want to repeat this on other pages, unfortunately, WordPress doesn't have a copy-paste option for this, so you have to repeat the process.

Besides placing your image galleries on your pages or post, you can place them even on your widgets or footer if you like. For this on your WordPress dashboard go to Appearance > Widgets. On the available widgets, options choose Gallery and then drag it where you want to put it (homepage, sidebar, footer, etc). Now the widgets will ask you to choose the images you wish to include in your gallery. Before you click save you can also add some extra customization to this gallery, like giving it a title or adding captions. After you have done the editing you want, click the Save button, and you are done.
