Let us first define the categories of the web hosting to be able to select your plan when choosing web host. The two main categories for web hosting are shared (virtual) hosting and dedicated server hosting.

The shared hosting is one type that allows more users to use the same server. This is dome by allocating server resources between users. The server resources include memory or storage devices,Web Hosting Types and Definitions Articles processing power, and bandwidth. The server, unlike the desktop, has too great processing power and capacity. The server can contain thousands of processor working together in parallel. The memory storage also can be increased with time for one server by inserting a hard in rack.

From the above it is apparent the server can be shared between hundreds or thousands of people and this is the case of shared hosting where many users use the same server. This will result in an economical plan because the total price id divided between them. The price can be in the range of $5 to 15$ for the shared hosting.

On the other hand, hosting depending on using dedicated server give the customer the overall resources of the server. This includes as mentioned above the memory capacity, the processing power, and the bandwidth or data transfer capability of the server. The dedicated server is a good choice for large companies because it has high costs starting from $100 per month. It can also be used for persons who are very efficient in internet jobs or especially internet marketing.

The dedicated server plans can be divided into two types: managed and unmanaged dedicated servers. The managed plan requires that the company make the necessary configuration for the customer. In unmanaged dedicated servers, the customer has full access to the server and can make his own configuration.

Once the type of plan has been choosed based on the requirement, other factors must be considered for the web hosting plan. These factors are the parameters that the hosting company offers in the plan.

One factor is the disk space.  Each company offers a certain amount of space on the hard drive of the server. This is specified only in the shared hosting as outlined above. The web site size determines if the space is sufficient or not. If the web site is personal, it will be relatively small and can require up to 100 MB. If the site offers information, it can be very large and requires space in the range of Giga Bytes.

Besides the disk space is the bandwidth. The bandwidth defines the amount of bytes the visitors can download from the server per month. It can also be accepted or not depending on the site size.

Other additional factors can also be thanked of but two above besides the type of hosting is the initial things to look at when choosing the web hosting plan. The other factors are like the number of users for email account, the number of FTP users, Auto Responder support, and the degree of help from the company to the customers.
